For a proper sit-down meal, La Taberna del Pez, just a few doors down, serves classic Madrid dishes without the tourist prices. If you just want a quick bite, the corner where our street meets Corredera Baja has a bunch of spots for tapas or a slice of pizza. Easy.

When is the best time to visit Malasaña?

The neighbourhood is always alive, but the vibe changes. In spring and autumn, everyone's out on the 'terrazas' in Plaza del Dos de Mayo until late. The weather is just right for walking everywhere. Summer is intense; the days are hot, but the streets fill up after 9 pm when things cool down. Winter is a different beast—it's when you duck into the small, packed bars for a 'caña' and to get warm. It feels more local.

Tips for getting around the neighbourhood

Honestly, just walk. You'll miss the best shops and bars if you're not on foot. For anything further out, the Noviciado metro stop is a three-minute walk from our front door, right at the end of the street. It connects you to the rest of the city.
